FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

How is CYCC different from the traditional pediatric primary care clinic?

Most traditional pediatric practices provide care to both children and adolescents. CYCC will also care for children less than 10 years, however, we are intentional to create a health space that will be more adolescent centered and youth-friendly. Adolescents are more likely to engage in their healthcare if clinic decor, policies and practices appeal to them in relevant ways that provide respect, connectedness, clear communication and developmentally-appropriate privacy for sensitive health matters.

What is direct primary care?

A model of providing high-quality, straightforward healthcare that is more centered around patients.

Watch this informational video for detailed illustration of how DPC works.

How can I pay for services?

We care for patients who are insured, underinsured, or uninsured. Memberships are available for underinsured or if our clinic is out-of-network for your insurance plan. If you wish to use insurance, we do accept Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, United Healthcare, Cigna, Humana and others. You are responsible for co-pays and other services not covered by insurance. We accept cash, credit card but we do not accept checks for payment.

What if I don't have insurance?

You can pay a fee for service or join our direct primary care membership to pay a low monthly fee, less than the cost of a cell phone bill. There is more evidence that having insurance does not always guarantee affordable and accessible medical care. The benefit of using a direct primary care membership is that we offer a flat rate with inclusive services that help reduce the need for emergency care.

What if I have insurance?

There is more evidence that having insurance does not always guarantee affordable and accessible medical care. The benefits of using a direct primary care model is that we offer a flat rate with inclusive services that help reduce the need for emergency care. If you wish to use insurance or have high deductibles, we do accept Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, United Healthcare, Cigna and Humana. We do not accept Medicaid at this time.

What is included in the direct primary care membership?

Your membership covers Annual well-visits, Sick Visits, Telemedicine, In-office Labs, Sports/Camp Physicals, In-office Blood Draws, Follow-Up Care, Phone Consultations, and In-Office minor procedures i.e minor wound care, wart removal, Nexplanon and IUD placements for contraception.

What is not included in the direct primary care membership?

Your membership DOES NOT cover third-party labs or labs required outside the clinic, emergency room visits, imaging/radiology, hospitalizations, Ambulance/Transport costs, services rendered with providers outside our practice.

What about after-hours care?

You have direct access to your provider through the patient portal and secure messaging. We also empower patients/caregivers to use the Resource Page under "About" to answer common health questions. For emergencies, please call 911.

Dr. Efuribe (Dr. E) was amazing with my daughter!! She really was patient with my daughter and answered any questions while explaining with ease so she could understand. Dr. E and Janet took extra time to calm her down especially when she was nervous about her bloodwork and shots. I would definitely recommend Dr. Efuribe to anyone who is looking for a great family doctor for their kids!! So blessed to have found her for our family!!

Dr. E took care of our family since Day 1. Baby came early 3.5 weeks so we did not have a pediatrician yet. My husband found her office (thankfully we are less than 5 minutes away). Dr. E is very caring and thorough. She made house visits when we had emergencies as well. Baby is 4.5 months now and healthy thanks to the guidance and care of doc and the team. We appreciate you.

Dr. E and her whole staff was amazing. My son (17) left the appointment saying, "What a great experience. She treated me like a person." They spent quality time with us, and saw my son. She genuinely sees and cares about you as a human being. And the holistic care is real. They look at the whole person and what the whole person needs. Very cool experience.
